FPI’s Commitment to Quality

Our customers depend on us to provide products that are great tasting, safe and competitively priced. Our QA department is directly responsible for the quality of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished products, as well as traded seafood commodities. From initial receipt of materials supplied by vendor partners to final shipment of goods to our customers, quality and safety is our first priority. We have a rigid system of specifications and procedures in place for each and every product to yield a consistently high level of quality and customer satisfaction.

A competitive advantage to FPI, our Quality Assurance Laboratory is located on-site at our Peabody distribution facility allowing for rigorous control over the quality and safety of our sourced products. In 2007 our QA Laboratory conducted over 4,000 inspections including all raw materials going into our value-added products. We systematically check micro levels of our overseas production to ensure the accuracy of what is reported by our strategic vendor partners. Our finished product inspection team continuously samples and analyzes finished products via visual, dimensional and organoleptic inspection every 20 minutes on our production lines. Frozen, thawed and cooked characteristics are verified for conformance to specifications hourly in our finished product inspection lab.

FPI's Quality Assurance team consists of over 20 people who collectively hold more than 200 years of seafood industry experience. FPI utilizes third party inspection firms, in addition to customer audits, to assure our quality and processing systems are the best in the world.

FPI also ensures product safety and quality at the source. Our strategic supplier partners are held to same comprehensive standards as FPI and our overseas quality assurance includes:

  • Rigorous on-site audits and supervision
  • Product analysis and continuous monitoring
  • Traceability
  • Tamper-proof shipping containers
  • Inspection by 3rd party certified labs
  • Comprehensive food safety testing
  • All fully cooked products are micro tested for pathogenic bacteria
  • Certificate of Analysis from packer followed by 3rd party testing
